It is officially time to switch over your seasonal skincare regimen. Plunging temperatures, gusty winds and early snowfall have affected much of the country. Furnaces are turned on and air is dry, dry, dry.

Skin can rapidly experience dehydration when the weather turns so suddenly. Choosing hydrating, more emollient bases is an ideal way to protect skin from changing autumn weather. So too, is incorporating humectants, calming ingredients and AHAs whenever possible.

DERMAdoctor KP duty continues to be a cult classic thanks in part to its super moisturizing and soothing nature.  During fall and winter months, try applying KP duty lotion to hands before putting on gloves or socks. This trick can help keep hands and feet soft and supple.

Other Dry Skin Tips:

  • Apply a moisturizer after bathing helps provide skin with a hydrating barrier against the elements.
  • Try an emollient based lip treatment over wax-based for preventing and treating chapped lips.
  • Keep a humidifier by your bed. Even with a humidifier attached to a furnace, skin and lips love that extra dose of moisture in the air.
  • Use skincare products that are fragrance-free and dye-free. Dry skin can become sensitive skin and these additives may cause itching or irritation.
  • Skip the bubble bath. Detergents can strip the skin while fragrance and dyes can cause irritation. Try adding a hydrating bath oil instead. Be careful not to slip!

Make the most of the visual beauty the change of seasons brings, confident in the knowledge your skin is prepared, too.

Happy Hydrating!
