1) As with any great style, the first step in achieving a great blow out is to use the right product.  Hands down the best choice when trying to achieve a salon worthy blow out is to use a styling lotion. Styling lotions allow for more hold with your blow out while also providing shine, texture, volume, and heat protection.

2) The next step is to make sure that you have the right round brush. If your hair is course or you wish to straighten the hair, brushes with boar bristles work best; however, if your hair is fine or you’re looking to create curl, choose a round brush with a metal core. You should also be mindful of the size of the brush. If you’re hoping to create body, a brush at least 2” in diameter is best. For less body and more curl, try a slightly smaller brush around 1” in size.

3) Before you even touch your hair with the round brush, it is important to make sure that the hair is at least 75% dry. You may choose to use the blow dryer or let your hair air dry, but never begin the blow out on soaking wet hair.

4) Next you will need to section off your hair by splitting the hair just above the ear and securing the top half with a clip. Begin winding 1” – 2” pieces of the bottom half of your hair around the brush, pointing the nozzle of your blow dryer down and slowly pulling the brush through the hair in the direction you want your hair to curl. Once the bottom section is complete, remove the top section of hair from the clip and repeat the process.

5) Before the hair cools completely, add a fine mist of hairspray to set the style and smooth the ends with a shine serum. Finish the look with a quick tousle to add more volume and texture, and your salon worthy blow out is complete!
