Skincare No No'sFour Skincare Mistakes You May Not Realize You’re Making

1. Don't pick that blackhead! Picking at blackheads and other skin blemishes is at the top of the list. Some skincare experts say it's okay as long as you are using an extractor, clean hands, or a clean washcloth. We say no. Trying to pop blackheads increases your chances of scarring, infection, and of course, pushing the bacteria deeper into the layers of the skin. The best remedy for blackheads is patience, and keeping the skin clean.

2. Don't over exfoliate! Exfoliation is beneficial indeed: It can remove dead skin cells, increase circulation, and clean the pores. Problem is, you can exfoliate too much. If you are using an exfoliator more than three times a week, chances are you are doing it too much. This can cause dry, red, irritated skin. Give the skin a break and use a gentle cleanser.

3. Are you really going to bed with that makeup on? Admit it, we have all went to bed at least once and left our makeup on because we were so tired. Don't make it a bad habit, because your skin will pay dearly for it. Take those extra few minutes and use a gentle cleanser to wash all the dirt and makeup away. Follow up with a toner and your nighttime moisturizer. Don't forget to check the expiration dates on makeup and dispose when necessary.

4. Don't walk out the door without sunscreen! I understand, you are going to walk out the door, get in the car, go to work, and you think you don’t need sunscreen. Well – actually, you do. UVA rays can penetrate clouds and windows, and hit your skin, causing premature aging and sun damage. Sunscreen is the best anti-aging product ever. Don't leave home without it. Try DERMAdoctor Photodynamic Therapy 3-in-1 facial lotion with broad spectrum spf 30.
